Mobile phones started to grab users attention in India in almost ending of 90’s era. Previously the phones launched were way too old fashioned compared to any phone technology launching today. If you remember the old time’s phone use to come with an antenna for the network at the top of the phone. Due to its heavy weight, the was no difference between brick and phone Hence, it was sarcastically called “brick phones.” Due to the lack of technical specifications, users were only able to make and receive calls from the phone. Even though with fewer features yet these phones were expensive. Still, people use to feel proud to own mobile phone with such specs at that time. However, As time passed and the evolution in technology happened, These phones lost their value and now companies have withdrawn it from the market and not available to purchase.

Feature Phones

Then came the 20th century the evolution of smarter technology who introduce us with feature phones and bar phones. In Bangladesh, people use to call them button phones as well. Apart from receiving and calling, These phones had specifications like less display resolution, poor quality of camera, old polyphonic ringtones, Bluetooth sharing, sending SMS and MMS, Standard FM radio, Sanke type low-end games and 3.5 mm jack.  Demand for these Feature phones increased rapidly with its popularity among people of Bangladesh. Then came the introduction to the entry-level feature phones. However, these phones were more priceworthy as compared to the first generation of mobile phones in Bangladesh. But it was worth it as it offered good and more features. With technology moving at a rapid pace, the demand for same was growing simultaneously. New brands entered the market to deliver new innovations and offers. The innovation includes WAP internet access, Video, and MP3 Player, Introduction to MP3 ringtones and many more. As the times passed we experienced new features in these feature phones. One of the most dominant Finnish brand Nokia in those times was ruling the feature phone market. It’s Phones like Nokia 2660, 6600, 3210, 1110, 1100 and 3310 were popular during those times. At the moment there are a lot of brands which offer modest pricing and good quality devices.
